  1. Loved this and the e4 top 10. As a c4 player, I'd love to see a breakdown of those openings as well.

  2. youd assume after 10 mins youd lose dem jitters john

  3. I like your videos but top 10 is too much to take in. Too much time spent on less popular ie 10 – 5. Then ran out of time. Likely a more relaxed approach on top 5 video would have been better

  4. I think you should have covered the Bg5 line instead of the e3 line in the Semi-Slav.

  5. I always enjoy SLCC videos, but this one I enjoyed the most because I was solidly laughing by 22 seconds

  6. The problem with this video is that you are showing it from white's point of view.

  7. i was trying to learn & understand the most common lines but because the video is ordered from 10th most popular to 1st, the most popular opening lines are a hurried in time pressure & couldn't understand them as well as i hoped.

  8. First of all I'd like to thank you for your class, very interesting and so on. …I always prefer d4 opening

  9. for the queens gambit accepted, we never did resolve what to do with black's queen's bishop. i wonder if it isn't better to move it out early to f5 or g4 so that it at least has a life.

  10. I came for nice responses for 1.D4 and got enlighten about how positionnal playing is interesting and the way to go. I tend to play rather agressively and so far it worked well but breaking the 1400 barrier will need of me more positionnal playing and less all out attack.

Thank you, I will finish this video later but this is indeed of great quality and the lecturer is also really nice.

  11. I love this channel. Best chess lesson content on YouTube!!! By a Long Long way. So unselfish to share your classes for free. Respect.

I am rated 1500+ on lichess now. I usually play Sicilian as black, but when someone plays 1.d4 I get Super confused.

I only learnt chess last year so I’ve only learnt 1 opening for white and 1 defence for black. Trying to expand my repertoire now, especially to defend against 1.d4. Anyone know which is a good one to learn, especially considering I’ll never be playing any GMs anytime soon?

  12. When you are showing what to do with the black pieces why don't you invert the board, so that people playing the black pieces can see what it looks like while they are playing it?

  13. That guy at 7:24 who didn't shut the door! I hate when that happens.

  14. Would like it if it started with the most popular then the least. But very informative, and easy to follow. Also would like common mistakes in certain positions or common tactics/ideas if played wrong.

  15. Don't just take pieces, develop. Greatest advice.

  16. Where is Slav defense? There are many variations in Slav such as 4..a6, 4..g6, 4..Bf5

  17. 1. Queen's Gambit accepted
    2. Trompowsky attack

  18. Can someone explain to me, on so many openings, Bishop moves to B4 but black never responds with A3 and i don't know why

  19. i see you watch these videos online too johnathan..

  20. What about the London System? 1. d4, d5 2. Bf4… 3. Nf3. Is it because it is really an attack and not a response to d4?

  21. I'm tired of many people using the d4 opening now im going to learn this and gain points

  22. what if in 47:45 black plays cxd4 , cxd4 exd4 , exd4 Nxd4 ?!

  23. In the present day 23 October 2020 surely the Queens Gambit declined is the most popular line.

  24. #10 – 1:13 – Queen Gambit Accepted
    #9 – 5:16 – Trompowsky Attack
    #8 – 12:18 – Dutch Defence
    #7 – 16:44 – Grünfeld Defence
    #6 – 25:48 – Queens Indian
    #5 – 30:30 – Benoni Defense
    #4 – 37:36 – Semi-Slav Defense
    #3 – 44:58 – Nimzo-Indian Defense
    #2 – 48:24 – Queens Gambit Declined
    #1 – 51:38 – Kings Indian Accepted

Yes, I'm aware that it's in the Description as well.

  25. I feel like he's recording at like, gunpoint, like there's a shotgun barrel pointed at him for the duration of the video.

  26. hmm? wouldn't ya think opening responses for Black would be better presented and explained from Blacks point of view? i mean, with the board the other way'round with Black on the bottom? or is everything related to chess suppose to be discombobulating 🙂

  27. I feel like this video mostly just shows what top players do but doesn't really explain well why.

  29. What to do if the opponent plays a defense that we dont know?

  30. A lot of London fans out there at the lower levels. I like the qgd but usually if my opponent plays d4 their next move is almost always Bf4
